Kate Schermerhorn's subtle black-and-white photographs reveal a natural world outside of time, filtered through atmospheric effects. For her Mist Mountain series, she photographed a Costa Rican mountaintop partially obscured by mist. Land anchors the bottom edge, but the large, luminous field of fog is the contemplative focal point.
